I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

A 60% increase in pay and you’re asking if it was a correct move!? Absolutely correct!! Think about how quickly you will recover that 7k and level set vs. losing the opportunity altogether because you were afraid to leave the other job over 7k!!
“If it both scares and excited you, you should definitely do it!” <— my on-going mantra
Where’d you find a remote planning job at 87k+20%?? Lol
Honestly it wasn’t even listed as remote. Recruiter reached out to me 2 months later saying the team was open to having someone remote, guess they couldn’t fill it locally. My advice: apply to companies based in cities with a high cost of living (SF, NYC, etc)
Ask the new company to bump sign on from 2k to 9k.
Already negotiated and everything but I was able to get my payback negotiated down so I am even now!
