EY Deloitte PwC people - would you leave your current employer for a 15%-25% total comp difference? This translates to a 25-45k difference per annum, largely driven by bonus at the new firm (20-40%), much smaller than my current employer. Doesn’t feel like a great exit opportunity - currently at big 4 this would be moving to a niche consulting company

How exciting! I also vote for the AI start up. It sounds like you’ve got a great resume and can always go back to big tech.
That Google isn’t offering you the level you deserve doesn’t bode well for how they’ll treat you when you’re there.

If your startup gets acquired, what happens to your equity? As you’ll likely get cut
Pro
Sometimes it gets accelerated vesting. Depends on if it has triggers or if they just decide to.

You’ve already got the big tech line on your resume. Personally I’d go AI startup for the options upside. Have you taken a company public before? If not, the potential for that experience is another point for the AI company (not to mention the money). Plus fully remote is huge to me.
Enthusiast
IMO - it depends on (1) your prior big tech experience (2) the experience the two offers would provide, and (3) your financial situation.
1. Prior Experience: Was it FAANG? Mag 7? Was it recent with transferable experience? If yes, then consider a startup
2. Job Duties in new roles: Are they easily transferable? will it excite you? will the jobs fit into your lifestyle?
3. Financial Situation: Are you financially stable and have met your personal goals? if no, then consider Google. It is a low-ball offer, but it is still substantial (and more guaranteed than a startup)
In my situation, Google would be my 1st choice but I can 100% see the AI startup being ideal if it fits your goals and lifestyle. Good luck

Startup as well, if you believe in it - you can always come back to big tech but it’s hard to find a good startup offer like that.
What’s your practice area
Startup for me as well. I feel like for your YOE you could have come in at a higher level at Google.

Agree. You are being severely under leveled for your YOE IMO.

Startup, although all that equity is generally worthless in startups. Sounds like you’ll work hard as well.
