I’m interested in non-technical roles at large tech companies in the San Jose area (FAANG and others) but the salary ranges seem surprisingly low (often lower than what I’ve been making in the Midwest with much lower COL). If the salary range is between $100-160k, what is a reasonable expectation for equity? Is living in such a HCOL city feasible with this comp, given that I am aiming for the higher end of that range in the Midwest? TIA for any insight you can share. Nvidia Meta Microsoft

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?

I’m starting my exit from Deloitte after 2 years here doing Salesforce implementations, and about 4 years prior to that of more Salesforce implementations. I’ve realized that I love receiving quick/frequent feedback, I prefer to have my compensation correlate to how hard I work, and like working closely with people. I don’t see myself in my managers shoes or becoming more technical. Any thoughts on roles/paths I should pursue? Any opinions would be very helpful!
