Anyone at Google open to networking? My new role (haven’t started yet) is senior and I want to start building my network in advance so I don’t feel so lost and alone at such a big company when I join!! I love getting to know people! If you’re open to getting to know a Noogler and be part of my network/support system, I’d really love to chat and learn about you/what you do/where your group fits into the big picture. Google DM me :) 🙏🏻

1. BA/DA role? No way. There is absolutely no requirement of stepping down since you already have experience as APM.
2. Please provide further clarification on your next and current company. It looks like you are about to leave ML-AI (High-tech) company in next few weeks but you said that you have 6 months PM experience in non-tech company. Do you currently have the mentioned skills or you aim to acquire them to be successful in PM role?
1) I thought the same. I have done DA/BA work prior, but I am not getting APM roles easily
2) I do have experience in the roles that I currently mentioned, but I am not able to keep up with the project in my current company itself. It is Deep Learning software so I was able to do the best I could, but they are not happy.
The CPO has already told me tender my resignation since they have hired more qualified/experienced candidates since I joined and they are restructuring.
The mentioned skillset is something I already have.
You just have to find a better fit, your current situation is most likely an exceptional case and definitely not good enough reason to take such a huge step down. I think your current company uses product managers for very technical work as well, which is not a common thing. Keep reaching out to all the product based companies and during interviews clarify the technical acumen expected with the help of company's existing products as case study.
Your current skill set is decent for a product manager in tech space. Any deeper specialization will happen only on the job as a PM. There is no course or job role, that will prepare you for what your current company is expecting. I don't think you will find exact same job expectations from any other company so don't take any permanent "specific" changes, keep it generic as it will allow you to expand your opportunity base. Again, specialization will happen only on the job.
Thank you so much for this.
