Now I have to face my struggling, emotionally wrecked team and say "sorry, no end in sight, but hey I just got a bump." They're going to hate me, and I'm about to lose their trust.
@D1 Your premise is incorrect - margins are thin due to poor contract planning and industry undercutting: controllable items by a solid biz Dev team. Staffing is one of many levers that can be pulled, but is one of the last that should given its trickle down on quality of work. The work still needs to get done, and cutting staff means boosting productivity somehow else. Finance seems to always miss the fact that you need that part too.
Damn. Talk about already starting the year off badish. Not even a week in.
Margins are razor thin. Staffing levels are the only way to increase profitability.
Show me one fully staffed team, and I'll show you dozens of understaffed.
I mean, you're free to turn down your promo if you feel it's undeserved or unfair to others.
Procurement will not let any negotiations go the agency's way cause they can always move the account to another shop. Our industry has lost its leverage, sadly.
My guess is that until your client complains, nothing will change, bc you are presumably managing to get the job done.
