It always makes me realize just how short regular weekends are!

like

Same, I always think okay this is how long a weekend SHOULD be lol

I'm enjoying it. Yesterday and today I didn't do too much, and that was the whole idea. I had a vague plan to do some binge watching, but so far I haven't gotten into it. There's so much stuff on the streaming services that I get into a decision paralysis and wind up just browsing and not actually watching much of anything.

like

Oh my gosh me too, I hate that! I've been reading sometimes lately which helps give me more options when TV just isn't good enough

OP I am right there with yu catching up on some work-life balance myself. I am really excited to have an extra day off and get some things done around my house that I have really been putting off for far too long. Been feeling really burned out lately so hoping this three day weekend helps.

like

I hope it was helpful! I caught up on some rest, at least which I think was good for me 😊

Hate to say. my usual days off are Sunday-Monday, so it means squat to me.

Oh nooo, sorry to hear that! I know someone always has to be there to cover when most people have off

I’ve been fully utilized starting ~June, but first few months were slow. Am i fine?!

Does anyone in this group have ADHD? Are you finding that working in a law firm setting and billing hours is just not something they can do or is it possible with the proper medication and therapy?

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

I’m curious. What would you say is the best industry / sector for…1. WLB, 2. Great people / team, 3. Exit opp’s., and 4. Overall (mix of the above). Goes without saying the obvious “it depends on office, team, project, client, etc.” So this is an ask for general observations.

Lets us discuss why Indian companies expects/forces/ us to work more than 9 hours but in timesheet we have to fill 8.
Managers schedule meeting after office hours and expects us to be available always.

Sorry to say this but I have seen only Indians who work extra hours. What's even funny is that the upper management laugh at foreigners who work exactly 8hours.

Should we not change our mentality?
What should we do to not follow this anymore?
