How are you all using AI in your SE roles? We've been asked to present on inventive ways to use AI to make our roles more effecitve.

I use GPT to summarize meetings/ extract key points/ help me with additional followup and discovery but outside of this I'm not using it much.

Any great use cases or great tools you are using to make your life easier/ level up your work?

I use AI for note taking and giving me summaries and abilities to chat with it (so I can chat with entire folder of all meeting notes - super productive and easy to share)

Additionally I use AI to customize my demos for each client instead of using standard one size fit all demo.

AI also helps me prep for a meeting where it summarizes all the publicly available info on the client before the meeting so I am much better prepared than individually searching

I have created my own AI bot (with integration to Notion, slack/teams, drives) that helps me with all of the above plus reminders to follow up, schedule meetings and keep me on track

Just found out that with a good prompt ChatGPT can do great peer review on documents AND on transcripts. You can record a demo (dry run ideally) and get interesting feedback. Careful though, not everything is accurate!

Recruiter for big tech company reached out on LinkedIn about a role. I asked about ballpark compensation numbers and they said they’re only comfortable sharing on a live call. Replied that I often receive LinkedIn offers for roles of paycuts around 30-50% so I want to make sure we’re in the same rough range. Recruiter again said she would only share via live call. Is this a red flag?

Anyone feel frustrated at times with the super aggressive sales personalities we deal with? My AE is always pushing on every ask no matter how minuscule it is. My vp is super anal about anything we do. I understand these guys pull in huge commissions and bonuses that’s why they are so motivated. However what I personally feel is they just nag us until we do the job according to their spec. Just venting……anyone else feel the same?

Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

I'm in a very HCOL area and my 165k TC isn't enough to comfortably buy a million dollar house (which is a 50 y/o SFH that needs TLC on prob a 1200 living sqft).

What can I do to position myself for this?
