How bad is it to quit a job after two months? Currently at a BB bank but it's a financial analyst role and I want to be in due diligence/m&a space to eventually move to Corporate Development. Contin.

Do you have something lined up?

This. If you don’t have something lined up, it’s very bad. You’ll have a gap on your resume and you’ll either have to explain that you quit somewhere after 2 months or you will have to lie and say you were doing something else non-professional. Neither are good options. If you have something lined up, it’s not that bad... you’ll still have that gap on your resume but your new position should buffer any future opportunities

Thanks Manager 1. Nothing lined up but wanted to ask before I started looking.

No problem - if you’re set on leaving (i.e. current job is unbearable) just make sure you have a very polished story as to why you’re leaving after 2 months. It’s going to be the 1st or 2nd question that anyone asks you.

Try something along the lines of “the role doesn’t line up with how it was presented to me and, while I’ve tried to make the adjustments to make it work, it’s ultimately not where I see myself growing professionally". You want to minimize the part of this where you knew the job was bad but you took it anyway. Anything that makes it look like you knew it wasn’t right but accepted anyway and are now quitting is going to be a massive red flag.
