How bad of a look would it be to give my two weeks remotely and turn my computer into a different office than my home office?

I would make sure they allow that. If so, it doesn’t really matter. You turn your computer into the IT people who don’t know you anyway.

like

I mean, I can’t ask them if they are cool with me quitting remotely before I quit.

like

True, but there are typically policies that outline what you need to do when you quit. Try looking for those. Most places won’t let you use vacation on your last days at the firm, for example.

From a legal perspective? Not a big deal. From a career perspective? I hope you don’t intend to ever work at a big 4 again...word gets around. You’re an adult - act like it and at least have the courtesy to do it in person.

like

I’m leaving for another Big 4 office across the country. I’ll just do it in person and get it over with. They are going to let me go the same day anyways...

like

Yeah, that's your best option. Best of luck!

like

Why don’t you just schedule a day in the office? The relationships you developed can be assets one day? The firm does one thing but keep them

like

I am not sure why it would hurt you chances to work there again. Who the F cares where the laptop is returned???

like

I’m trying to do this plus I’ve seen someone else in my office do this and apparently it’s fine

At the worst, FedEx it back to your office.

Will you be working those last two weeks?

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

When I was hired, I don't recall being informed about my salary being tied to my location. My employment contract also only makes one mention of location, and says "home office" and my state. I was recently told by HR though that if I move, my comp. will be lower. Is this legal? Should I consult a labor lawyer?

In my mind, I don't recall being told this and it's not clear from my employment contract, so I feel like they're breaking our agreement, and it feels unfair.

Thoughts on what to do?

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

So, after a year of not so quietly making it known that I wanted to make the transition from the tech side to the business side I have officially been extended an offer to take on a Project Manager internally (coming from a software configurer). The client I have been assigned to has many of our products, however, the specific project I have been assigned to is a problem child and has damaged the companies relationship with the client.
