If you are thinking of starting a law practice or growing one with little or no capital, you need to get the book, “Starting & Growing a Law Practice without Breaking the Bank.
It was written based on personal experience and research. I started my practice 11 years ago in the middle of the 2008/2009 recession with about $500 and I have grown the practice significantly over the years using affordable and available resources.
I also coach solo practitioners and small firm attorneys. https://www.amazon.com/Starting-Growing-Practice-Without-Breaking/dp/1099523303

Curious what you mean by “benefits of being married”? But based on the wording of your question- being married to someone won’t prevent or guarantee that they’ll not suddenly pass away or want out of the relationship in 10+ years.. there’s probably nothing you can do (that’s legal and practical) to prevent either of these from happening.
As for medical decisions, well, that’s what a medical POA is for and you certainly don’t need to be married to have one of those executed.

Move to a state that has common law marriage. I believe there's 8 left (or something like that).
Or just get married but have a strong prenup.
If your sole concern is medical you can also just make someone your medical power of attorney.
