How do you deal with feeling too ‘slow’ for your job?
I have adhd which results in me having even worse imposter syndrome than others. I didn’t always do the best in school until I started getting medicated. Therefore, I have pretty bad self esteem. I’m always feeling like I’m learning things too slow at work. I also overthink every move I make so I take forever. Is this job just not meant for someone like me? On the plus side, I’m really good at concepting. But for everyday tasks, not so much.

You’re right to feel that way, and I guarantee you’ll get the hang of it. Medicated too, a little more than 8 years into my career and a bunch of award winning campaigns later, I can tell you that within the first year (or even the first months) it will all become much easier. Until then: fake it till you make it, and keep Hey whipple squeeze this on your bedside table.

You might also have a lower tolerance for bullshit. When it's done fast, it's often been done. Great insights and ideas usually result from beating the crap out of your system, sometimes with lots of research involved.

If you didn't belong there, you wouldn't have been chosen for the role. Trust in your capabilities, you were hired for a reason. I hope things get easier for you overtime, but don't be afraid to take a step back if you need to.

100% agree, you were hired for a reason and sometimes our brain likes to mess with us and make us think we're not good enough - but it's not true! I'm sure you're doing just fine

I know it will take some time, but you should start reworking that thought pattern. Challenge the idea that being slow = not good enough. I would rather take my time and move slower with things because I'm more likely to catch mistakes that would be otherwise overlooked and be much happier with the final product. Focus on the quality of your work and forget the rest. Don't let imposter syndrome get the better of you.

I feel this in my soul. I have ADD and I just feel constantly overwhelmed and behind. Hang in there! You have to trust that you know what you are doing and you will get the job done. Don't overthink it.

Hi, I am currently interviewing for the abuse analyst role in a Trust and Safety team at Google. I have had 3 rounds done and a 4th (RRK) is scheduled. I'm not sure if the previous rounds were entirely RRK/GCA/Leadership as questions asked were mixed. I have been conveyed though that my feedback so far, is pretty neutral / avg hence a 4th round which will be entirely RRK.

So, my question to y'all:
For an analyst role, what's the best way to prep for RRK? Is live coding in SQL asked?

My five year old girl keeps getting touched by the kindergarten boys on her bus. All the kindergarteners sit in the front section of the bus. The older female bus driver told me that she would need to write up my daughter because two kindergarten boys complained about her. When I asked my daughter what happened she informed me one boy pulled her hand and arm and the other pinched her hand hard. She said she gave a Bronx cheer to them, but she is getting written up by the driver?

Hi, could someone give me a referral for the job vacancy in Accenture India’s legal department? I have applied via their website now.

Why is that you see people rise in the profession of teaching who prosper to Principals. Is it What they Know? or Who they Know? with a Masters and with Honors my district has never even considered my Principalship even though I completed all the requirements. The rule: Principal recommendation- I will never see a Leadership role. This is due to my role as a Lead for the Union. Not Fair - Teachers for Teachers - turned bad for future roles.

The product was not ready to really hire and mentor someone with entry level experience, and due to that my role has been eliminated with my las day being May 6th. I am on STEM OPT, and have limited time to work with, but I am currently looking for opportunities within data, product and support, and would appreciate any help or advice.

I have decided to move on from startups and pursue role in established companies as I would love stability and job security.

I'd like to practice writing tv as much as I can, even outside of work. I'm not motivated enough to write scripts on my own. I'd like to volunteer writing tv ads for a non-profit or something similar. Does anybody know of a site for something like this?

I'm currently applying to a position at an agency independently and just got a call from my recruiter about a copywriter role for a different project at the same agency. I would take it if I don't get the first one but I'm a little confused as to what to do because the second one seems like it would start immediately but I don't want it as much as the first one. Any advice?

Curious what others are responsible for when it comes to design (specifically those of you who have a FT designer). Writing callout boxes, pull quotes, etc. is part of the job. But for a recent project I was asked to provide detailed ideas for the header image and in-text graphics, including whether we should go with stock or illustration styles.

if there's a style of writing you could get certified in, which would you choose and why?

I’m seeking new jobs but my last 3 years of work have been with a niche entertainment advertising agency. What’s a good way to combat the industry “attitude” of not coming from a big name?

I presented multiple ideas that I thought was a game changer and it keeps getting rejected. All these generic traditional ideas are being chosen and it sucks.. I want to make a difference in the advertising industry but I wonder, do you guys eventually accept how things are and stop suggesting ideas out the norm.

You’re given a brief for an OOO campaign. Could be cool. How many days are you given before you have to show concepts to the ECD? And to the client? Curious about time expectations at different places.

Been one of the only writers at my digital shop for two years. Busted my ass since I started and was finally notified of my first raise today...a measly 0.02%.

I realize raises are tough to come by right now, but am I justified in feeling insulted? We have some big clients on our current roster for a relatively small agency, and the best they could do wasn't even a full percentage? Is it even worth it to counteroffer?
Been eyeing other jobs for a minute, but this was probably the final straw.

I was briefed to carry out a shoot but copy was not part of the assignment. The shoot turned out great—do I include it in my book, or no because there’s no copy?
