McKinsey & Company I did my final round with McKinsey today, and I I received a rejection call from the partner today. However, he said I did really great and wants to keep in touch with me. Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.

The advantage of an internal transfer is that you often know the nuances of how the company works, who the stakeholders are, what moves the needle, etc… in a smaller company, you’ll already have rapport with the stakeholders and may already know people on the “new” team. In a larger company, you may not have that connection but understanding how the company works is a huge asset that you shouldn’t underplay. You also will likely have access to documentation and sometimes data around the new role that outside candidates won’t have, which should allow you to be far more prepared than an external candidate.
Notice that none of what I said has anything to do with what you’ve already done. You should be honest about your accomplishments and what you’ve already done bring to the table, but take advantage of the access to information and the familiarity with the ecosystem that you would have above the “average” external candidate.
