Non-political poll - how many non-billable hours have you logged so far this year? I’ll start: 143
Just got into a full time grad program for international affairs that starts in January of 2021. (completely changing careers). I need to stay working at my firm until then and possible after to get the billable hours for my CPA. I passed all 4 exams and I refuse to give let that go to waste...... how do I tell my employer I'll be going to school in a way that they'll still let me work part time? Extremely nervous they're just going to let me go.
Laughing in billable hours
What's everyone hoping to get for Christmas? I got my present early: five months of billable work to start off 2016.
I’m thankfully hitting my hours, but my firm keeps passing non-billable work my way. I am grateful for the opportunities, but this type of work always seems to find its way to the female associates at my firm. We have been told that non-billable work is irrelevant in terms of our annual hours. Any tips on how to navigate this in a thoughtful way? I want to be a team-player, but I believe that others need to step up to the plate.
What are your average billable hours? Month / year? What type of practice are you in? Are you on the Cravath scale? What associate year?
Hi! Currently interviewing at Accenture and was wondering the required utilization/billable hours for their federal practice. (Would probably come in at the “consultant” level). Thanks!
Any reviews of working at DLA Piper? Looking for London specifically but also interested to know of any other experiences/reviews. Salaries, billable targets et al
How does consulting work at Deloitte? I am an Accounting major and know about billable for tax and audit. How many hours of billable work are you expected to work at Deloitte SAP practice? Are you expected to work 50+ billable every week? Thank you. How hard is it? Just want info before I make a decision whether to jump ship.
On pace for ~3750 billable hours this year. Worst three months of 17 year career. Send help plz
I just started at a new firm 3 months ago. A big jump for me with 1,800 billable hours. I feel like I’m drowning trying to make the hours :( I am exhausted at the end of every day. Does it get easier?
My HR rep told me that to apply for your CPA license in MA you only need 1 year of work experience, not 2009 billable hours. Didn't sound right- can anyone confirm/deny?
What matters more - billable hours or quality of work? It seems like I have a good reputation for always being available, but personally, I don't think I am doing my best work as I'm overloaded. Does billing well matter more than quality work? Just started in the spring as midlevel.
My firm sent an email yesterday saying their tracking billable hours DAILY. It’s either they don’t think we’re working from home or about to have some layoffs 🤷🏼♀️
I’m in dire need of a day off. I feel so guilty saying that bc I work minimal billable hours right now. Weekends are for catching up on personal life (finding groceries/ordering grocery delivery, meal prep, laundry, cleaning, etc) and workdays are consumed with screens. I just want a day to do things that bring joy. Bitch move to use “lady probs” to ask for a day off?
How do you create a setup where you’re not “looking away” from the camera on calls when you use your second monitor primarily for everything? I’ve gotten feedback saying it looks like I’m not paying attention when conversing on zoom.

Anyone here into astrophotography? Want to up my game with deep sky objects, nebula, star clusters, etc. But confused on telescopes and telescope equipment. Looks like I would need 1) Telescope, 2) Field flattener 3) Tracking mount (my existing tracking mount can only take 6.6 lbs) 4) T Adapter 5) Sturdy tripod (my travel tripod is too flimsy) Any other gear I would need? Is there any place that sells reliable packages at the 800-1200? Debating whether to get a computerized mount at this range
Hi folks, question on DEI Context: my company at the csuite level is full of white men (and 1 female as CHRO). I am in the DEI group that was formed to give more guidance to leadership. They are open but struggle to justify DEI (because all white, how can they know!) How do I get them to understand that 1) representation is important, 2) white men from varying white dominant country =\= diverse, 3) their white struggle easy vs. minority , 4) diversity hiring will not make talent pool worse?
Cargill Business Services or CGI. Which is better in terms of work, benefits & work life balance Profile: BA CTC almost similar
During the difficult time, be mindful while going out for protest. Being an immigrant, it’s a high risk for your visa renewal. There is ongoing police activity and probability of getting your name in police record, which will impact your visa renewal. Be careful and stay safe and don’t do anything which is unlawful in a foreign country (not that you do unlawful in your home country).
Any MBB consultants here that did not go to a Top Tier college? I didn’t come close to going to a top tier school, but have 6 years of big 4 experience and a CPA. Wondering if it’s worth a shot
I have 401k and wealth builder with PwC and I am joining a company which doesn’t have a great 401K as such and i cannot contribute until after 90 days. I do not want to withdraw the PwC 401k and wealth builder and end up paying a lot of tax. What are my options here? I have heard of converting to a traditional IRA/Roth IRA , but have no clue how to do it or what is the right way to go about this. Please help me out!! Thanks in advance!! PwC
Do Deloitte and EY offer higher comp for Non-MBA masters degrees? Or is it like PwC where comp is same for all degrees that are non-target MBAs?
What is the best Marriott to stay in Savannah?
Hi everyone! Is anyone working at A&M willing to give me a referral please? Happy to jump on a call to discuss my background and credential before you refer me as well. Thank you!
Is it worth to ask the credit card company to increase the credit limit? My current debt to credit utilization is around 25%. The goal is to lower the % and improve the credit score.
For those of you with ADHD, do you have any tips for managing workload and inboxes? I didn’t take meds for a few years due to pregnancy, etc. but I started again recently. I was position where all of my work came from a single partner and 75% of my hours were days long depositions. I’ve recently switched firms and now get assignments from 4+ people. In addition to managing tasks and structuring, I get distracted when responding to emails and have trouble getting back to my actual billable work.
Coming into one of the big 4 as a PMD from the outside (agency holding co). How would you spend your first 90 days?
Are there staff/seniors/managers here that are looking to leave B4 and go to smaller/midsize public accounting firms? Or does everyone generally want to leave for industry?
I’m so burnt out. My current situation at work doesn’t allow me to take a break for a while. Is it too crazy to switch to another big 4 just so I can have 1-2 months break?
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
