I am obsessed with note-taking and recordkeeping. I can't remember anything for more than a few minutes, so if I don't have my incredibly specific note-taking and reminder system, I fall apart. In the moment when I think of anything, I have to write it down so I can reference it later. Earlier today, for example, I was in a meeting with my boss and he asked me to do several things and I knew that if I didn't write them down, they would disappear before the meeting was over.
Would you mind elaborating on that system? I’m having a hard time for way too long finding something that sticks.
I don’t know how to explain it, but the notebook type, pen/pencil, process, and the whole thing just needs to be”feel” right, and nothing has
I miss stuff all the time unless it’s in my face. I have sticky notes everywhere, which work fine until I become blind to them. So I also use various alarms and I try to break things down into a schedule that I force myself (as much as possible) to stick to. I still haven't completely tamed my brain though, and sometimes things get missed.
I have a to-do list document that I always have open on my PC. I’m reasonably good at recording action items there, but I often forget to look at it when I have downtime and then I either squander that time or do the less-urgent thing that happens to be top of mind. I think I did better when I used a physical notebook for the to do list, but taking that plus my laptop everywhere was too inconvenient.
I use a task tracking app on my phone and lots and lots pop up reminders.
I’m also married to my calendar and manage it by including focus time labeled with specific tasks.
It's called pyschic paper make up whatever you want it to say.
