This is hard. I have been here. I don’t envy you OP. If you figure out a way, let me know. The only thing I’ve seen work is if the person dodging/scapegoating gets caught in the lie or the ball drop by the superior themselves (ie not told on but caught by the senior team member) or if you leave the project or get a new manager/mentor to help advocate for you. Otherwise there isn’t a whole lot you can do by yourself as a team of 1 because it is a he said she said and perspective issue

When I know someone is being caught in a lie, I play dumb and add in everyone to the email. “Hi xxx, you mentioned you had already done xyz in advance of what I need to do, but I don’t seem to have it in my email. Added a few folks who may also be able to help if you’re busy!”
Set up time with your senior team members and have an open conversation, speak about facts, show evidence and provide a possible solution to mitigate.
If it doesn’t work, 1) leave the project 2) grind it out and know that performance is all about perspective
Haha you all have confirmed that my actions are right. I’ve found this is a toxic environment because it’s history repeating itself. Going to get a new job soon hopefully
