Hey, I have 4 YOE and currently a manager at PwC and have been managing teams for a little over a year now. My role mainly consists of leading teams of engineers deliver MVPs to our clients.
If I wanted to exit to Google or Facebook (Meta) what role would align for me? I was looking at engineering manager roles but unsure if that’s too senior for me.

It’s not considered high at all
It’s the second highest title at the company
Not at all. Sure there are a lot of EDs, but that happens when you have 280,000 employees. We have multiple CEOs, while other companies have only one. Does that make the title inflated? No. It just means we have a lot of huge businesses.
Intern -> analyst -> associate -> senior associate - > VP -> ED -> MD
Some VPs in one department makes more than the MDs in other departments. Choose wisely
Also depends on location, e.g. New York > London > Delaware
Hey guys any idea on what salary range I can expect for a VP role within CIB at JPM NY location?
I think the feeling that banks give out VP to anyone is not really correct. To me, it’s more like VP is the highest level where being a good at your job will get you for the most part. To get promoted to ED, you’ll need platform, business case and sponsors. MD is an even more strict version of that. So IMO, there’s a lot of VPs and EDs because it’s a much different challenge to get that next level.
Also want to add that power in your title comes from the area of the business. For a lot of strategy teams, VP is basically a starting point for a lot because there’s a need for employees of that caliber even though they don’t technically hold a lot of power/influence. You look at something like a VP in a call center that manages 50+ then it’s a totally different story and they’re able to make certain decisions and hold more influence than a VP in a strategy role.
it’s the next promotion after VP, once achieved you would look forward to seeking managing director after that
JPMC is a pretty flat organization. So ED is the level just below MD which is as high as it gets. But there are still a lot of EDs in the orgs. Not as many as there are VPs though.
