Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. My wife works at a school with kids with behavioral issues. The kids are abusive to the teachers/paras and have hit, kicked, pulled hair, as well as have grabbed the privates of teachers/paras. Nothing is ever done about it by higher up. Recently, the principal got kicked in the leg, and it turns out that the superintendent is “pressing charges” against the kid, but won’t do anything for the teachers/paras. What actions can my wife and the teachers take if the superintendent won't do anything?

I know I have the skill, but I struggle to even get an interview at most places. I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power.

I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about.

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to.
