It’s summer so people are on vacation which will slow things. It took me 2 weeks to hear about my current job so I wouldn’t be too concerned.
This !! I’m mid way through interviewing at 2 places right now- one formally and one more informal. Both had been super communicative with me up to this point but this week went radio silence. I was freaking out that they were ghosting only to find out everyone that was needed to move forward with next steps (at both places) were on PTO till after labor day lol. The recruiter who had been directing/communicating throughout the process is on PTO at the “formal” agency, the GCD (next person I need to talk to) and the person I interviewed with last week who is pulling for me are both on PTO. Safe to say I’ve chilled out a bit.
Depending on the place, this can be pretty standard. For example, if you’re interviewing at a place that’s part of a holding company, they will have to run salaries above a certain level up the chain, which can be slow as you might imagine. They may need to tighten up the business case and funding for the hire, and get the right people to sign off (which, in August, all the wealthy holding company execs are off on their lengthy vacations, so it’s a challenge).
All that said, it’s great to show enthusiasm, so I think sending a note to see where things stand / if they’ve gotten closer to a decision is a good thing to do.
Good luck!
I just sent a note yesterday evening. And to your point, yes part of a holding company so def not your mid level independent that calls you back in an hour. Thanks!
