How many hours do you work a week (on average)? I see a lot of people talk about working 60-80 hour weeks, and wondering if that’s truly the norm.

20-25. In-house is the way to go. It’s like having a part time job while being paid overtime.

Where?

40. Up to 45 if I'm feeling generous. Any hours you go above 40 are unpaid labor, and demonstrative of poor staffing and planning. You decide how charitable you want to be.

I'd say 95% of days I'm doing 8.5 hours.

Sometimes there are late nights, but other times I'm stepping away to handle personal matters, so that flexibility goes both ways.

Recommendations for firms to look into in South FL? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale but am open to Boca or Miami. I'm a first year associate in ID (coverage issues) but really would prefer transactional work. More importantly though, I'm looking for companies who pay relatively well (doesn't necessarily have to be market), are open to remote/hybrid work, aren't sweatshops. I'd settle for insurance work if theres good WLB & $$$ lol

Does anyone have ideas on how to navigate a smaller team environment when everyone’s roles seem to be stretched (hiring for additional people has been taking a while, not sure why). The stress causes some tension and that’s probably not great for the overall morale of the company long-term. I try to ignore and just stay focused on what I need to do yet sometimes proves challenging. I worry it might affect my professional/career growth. Thoughts on this would be helpful, thanks!

However, there is little to no learning and its very slow, the project is just starting and the client itself is not clear what they want. Do you think I should switch just because its a big 4. I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.
