For a position in NYC when I lived in DC, I had a call with the recruiter, then she said she would schedule phone interviews with several of the Art CDs. In a moment of desperation/feeling a little ballsy, I said “I’d rather come in person, would next week work?”
Luckily, I guess they liked that. Took a train up, interviewed with 4 CDs in person, then got the offer the next day.
Until about 5 years ago, 99% of the time I had no more than one interview, in-person with the CD/ECD before getting the offer. No phone calls with recruiters beyond "ECD liked your book and wants to meet". Crispin was the first to put me through the speed-dating interview process; a dozen or more interviews with each team going up through the ranks ending at Bogusky. I didn't get that one, though. Then Goodby did the same, but over two days, and I got that one. Now it's very fashionable to talk to 4+ people for every single opening, which is really a cop-out disguised as teamwork. I'm seriously considering letting recruiters know from the outset that I won't do more than three interviews. Or maybe charge them for my time; that's funny I'm totally going to send a bill to agencies who waste my time and don't hire me.
1000% THIS
1 - they ghosted for a min and then they randomly were like can you start tomorrow?????

I was interviewing at 6 or so agencies. Final round at 2.
Phone screen with the hiring manager.
Two rounds of in persons with a total of 6-7 people.
8 and it was for a internal transfer within the same holding group

Two: recruiter, CCO.
Small shop so there wasn’t too many to talk to.
No interviews with other agencies.
For this role I spoke with 5 people before I got offered the job.
5 - but my situation is unique.
1st was with the culture manager, 2nd was with my boss, 3rd was with my team/coworkers. Then my agency was put on a hiring freeze because of COVID, so I didn’t get to speak to them for a few months. Then once the freeze lifted I reinterviewed with the culture manager and my boss one more time.
Three:
Recruiter
Cd and gcd
Account person, strategist, project manager
WASNT at droga actually!
Phone call with recruiter, in-person with CD, then in-person with ECD. Got an offer but I took another offer. Then a few years later I reached out to the CD, interviewed with him once, got the offer and I’ve been here for some time now.
I was honest and told them the only reason I wasn’t accepting was because the other offer was in a city I preferred to live in. I enjoyed meeting them and would’ve worked with them otherwise.
Unfortunately my work visa for that last one didn’t come through so I had to move back to the same city and worked for a bit at another agency then reached out being all “hey remember that shithead?” and it all worked out in the end.
They did put me on the shittest briefs for my first year though 😂
Just the one 🤗😬

10 different in person across different companies, one of those with 3 rounds (didn't get) and one with 2 rounds in person (did get), though not all in person were serious interviews - some were more conversations. This was over a year. I was employed while searching, but luckily had a lot of flexibility so it wasn't obvious.
One.
