How many places did you apply to for your lateral search and how long did everything take to get offers from when you decided to start applications? How long did you have to accept offers? What did you negotiate? How long did you have before you were required to start at the new place?

Applied to 6 places, got 5 interviews and 5 offers. From application submission to first offer it was about 2.5 weeks, and all offers were in by 3.5 weeks. Accepted shortly thereafter. First offer gave me 10 business days, but recruiter said it would be easy to ask for an extension if I needed one. I negotiated a signing bonus, put in 2 weeks after I passed conflicts and got 2 weeks off.

First recruiter sent out 8 apps resulting in 1 interview, dinged morning after screener. Six weeks later, second recruiter sent out 14 apps resulting in 1 interview. Screener last Tuesday, full set of CBs last Friday, verbal offer through recruiter this morning, written offer expected mid-week. From app to verbal offer was 8 or 9 business days. Interviewed through an internal referral at another firm between recruiters and that process took 2 weeks from app to CBs, and then 2 weeks to rejection.

Hi fishes, I am new to IBM. Can anyone share when is appraisal cycle period in IBM? Unfortunately I can't get a hold of my manager to answer this basic question for me.

I’ve applied to a couple Warner Music Group positions but haven’t heard anything back yet. Can anyone share what the hiring process is like and approximately how long it took? Also, I would love if I could get a referral. Please and thank you!@

Additional Posts in Big Law

I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.

Is it worth asking for a pay raise if you know you are leaving the firm soon? Coming up on my one year at a firm. I'm already significantly underpaid, however, they are a smallish firm (15-20 attorneys) and it's insurance work. I'm already on the hunt for a new job and plan to leave within 2-4 months. Is it worth trying to get them to squeeze out more if I know I plan to leave for way more money?

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

I do miss seeing my colleagues sometimes but being able to actually use random breaks in the day that you get in transactional, especially as a junior, productively (work out, cook a meal, fold laundry) has made this job so much easier and sustainable for me. It’s still exhausting and so unpredictable and the December crush is killing me but I don’t know how anyone did this for more than a year or two pre-Covid when people spent all day and evening in the office.

Name the most ridiculous micro-managing by partners that you experience.

I’ll go first: MP told me that on initial emails, I am always to start with “Hello [name],” but after the initial email, I am not to address her by name again in the same thread. Initial greeting can only be “Hello [name] ” because just first name is too brisk and a “Hi [name]” is too informal. Had a 5 minute, in depth conversation as to why she prefers it this way…
