Sorry to hear that. It’s likely not you… instead, it’s poor business strategy.
Especially in consulting I say always live well below your means and maintain a savings buffer just in case. Best of luck!

3x in the last 10yrs. 4-5x total. Nothing was ever performance related to my knowledge and always a RIF / we are moving offices so if you want to move (surprise I didn’t lol) / selling company / etc.
Not sure what that says about me I guess 🤷🏼♀️
Such a great perspective to have though!
I also have been laid off three times in my career
I am on my 3rd as well. Do not despair it is not you but mismanagement.
Support group at IBM ?
4x. Always the economy. Always got back in the game and overall trajectory still positive, despite the setbacks, though 3x in the same decade was admittedly very tough.
2001 dotcom crash
2005 great outsourcing
2008 great recession
2023 bidenflation
3 layoffs over 20+ years most of them have been in the last 5-6. Companies over hired or are having trouble raising capital funding. I expect more before I get to retirement. The key has been to prepare for them and save 3-6 months of your salary so you have options and aren't panicking. Layoffs shouldn't be taken personal even thought they feel that way sometimes.
I was laid off twice by two different companies since September 2023. Both of them had ridiculous reasons for not keeping me
It’s not you. Orgs are just over hiring and then deep cutting down staffing. Unless someone is placing you on performance improvement plan, or something like that. It’s just not you.
Think about it:
Great Recession, pandemics, outsourcing, and inflation, all external factors that are greatly impacting all of our lives 🫶🏽
