How much does it cost to rent a home in Austin? Thinking of moving there but I’m seeing a wide spread on home rental prices. Thinking something simple, maybe 2000 sq ft.

I have a client who needs a 401k, or a solo retirement account w loan options. When I was at UBS/Ameriprise, it was no issue but now it seems tougher to find a firm that does solo 401k as a RIA's.

Moving to Houston and am looking in the Garden Oaks and Heights areas but I can’t get over the the new million dollar homes next to the $800k houses built in 1980’s. Does anyone live in an area like this? Is there a name for this? Other than a gentrified area? What are some things to consider if buying in an area like this? Are neighbors ok knowing that they’ll eventually be bought out or get to a point they can’t afford the property taxes? TIA for any insights!

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

I rented a house that had been vacant for a bit & the prior tenant didn’t do a thorough job cleaning up. Agent indicated the owner would be open to having the house cleaned but I would need to have the house professionally cleaned when I moved out (that was fine w me). I just received the bill from the owner for $250, which is super annoying bc there was no expectation communicated that I would foot the bill for this, more so bc the cleaner did a LOUSY job. My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k.
