I live in TX, maxed out 401k, and was on an hdhp med plan. My take home was $3468 per paycheck on $130k/yr for reference. That’s within range but you would still need to factor in nyc taxes.
Same as me with a 170k salary in nyc 😅
I make $132 in NYC. After 13% 401k, 10% ESPP, and Uncle Sam, my take home is $2500 per paycheck ($5k total per month).

Medicare: $151
NYS Tax: $471
NYC Tax: $323
Healthcare+HSA Contribution (maxed): $418
401k (Maxed): $1625
Take Home: $5586

Easily. My obligated expenses are about $2000 (rent+utilities), giving me about $3500 of extra cash, I dump about $1500 of that into my student loan account (~$1100 more than the standard monthly payment) and have $2000 to spend on whatever. But I would usually end up spending closer to $1500 and save the remaining $500.
Depends on your 401k withholdings but it’s right around there. I always use this tool and it’s been very accurate. https://www.adp.com/resources/tools/calculators/salary-paycheck-calculator.aspx
At 120k, with 12% 401k contr in OK (about 4.5% state tax) and 100% employer paid ins, I bring $2,998 bimonthly (24 checks vs 26 paydays).
Hang in there!
I make 130k in NYC. 16% goes into 401k ($800 per check) paycheck comes out to around 3k per check... 6k per month.
Yup
