Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Hey, I have 4 YOE and currently a manager at PwC and have been managing teams for a little over a year now. My role mainly consists of leading teams of engineers deliver MVPs to our clients.
If I wanted to exit to Google or Facebook (Meta) what role would align for me? I was looking at engineering manager roles but unsure if that’s too senior for me.

US practitioner here and they are very real in consulting. We are behind plan currently and all of the Offering Portfolios have a higher bench then normal. A combination of over hiring, a softening market this summer, and less attrition to post-bonus have mostly caused this.
FB is definitely overblowing this. If you ask most practitioners in the US they won’t even know layoffs are happening. Those that are being let go are low performers plus those that are in groups with weak pipelines and markets.
@D1 200 people out of the thousands in US consulting is quite small honestly.
Not sure what you want me to say. I said layoffs are real. Would it be better for me to say I’m scared and we should all be?
Very real. What’s your story? Why did you get laid off
Not laid off. Just wondering how bad the to-be recession is.
