If you are going into technology or media go with CSM. If you are going to manufacture fan blades, get your PMP.
They’re actually quite different so it depends on what you’re looking to gain from the cert, both personally and professionally. I went with a CSM as I work only in digital/technology and follow a scrum (agile) framework.
Yep what everyone said.
CSM mainly deals in scrum/agile methodologies and more skewed towards tech industries.
PMP is more on the side of engineering and construction and includes serious project risks such as life/death scenarios.

PMP has broadened considerably over the years and is no longer synonymous with waterfall. Hard to get by without knowing Agile, which is a pretty broad term these days, as a PM these days. Much more time, effort needed for PMP. Suggest starting w/ CSM.
In marketing, advertising, and consulting the knowledge and skill of both is needed. It's a jungle out there. #waterscrumfall #agileprojectmanagement
Concur with all of the above on PMP - would also recommend that route if you have any interest in Defense industry / Gov’t contracting (where EVM and Risk Management are critical skills)
Completely depends on your career path. Are you looking to work on agency digital projects and/or client side development? CSM.
If you’re generalizing and would potentially manage across industries- PMP.
