I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.

PMP is valuable everywhere
I’m with DD1: when I worked in federal, I thought it was something that everyone got as a simple act of career progression.
Switched to commercial 5 years ago and have never once seen an engagement mention PMP as a requirement, or even a “nice to have”.
It’s not worthless outside of federal, but it certainly isn’t going to make or break you.
SM1 - can you talk about what kinds of certs or qualifications are valued in DD1 in commercial?

Shows you can overcomplicate decision making and planning with useless charts.
I’ve seen a lot of industry jobs that have it listed. I’m in AFS and it was really valuable during my interview and negotiation and got me hired at consultant rather than senior analyst
It gives you an advantage for PM jobs, and is required for many govt PM roles. It is a differentiator.
It's really just for the federal government.
you’re almost more likely to take a pay cut then you are to get a salary increase bc of your PMP...
