I am 36 and just learning about FIRE through this bowl. Haven’t done much outside of contributing to 401K and having traditional savings. Our household gross income is around $420K. I’d appreciate any advice this group can share for me to start on the right path. Thanks

Oh wow! With that income, you could hit FIRE in no time if you’re serious.

Here’s what I do (though with an income of $90k):
•live below my means
•not try to “keep up with the Joneses”
•have investing/financial goals at all times
•treat investing as a bill (aka mandatory)
•maximize tax advantaged accounts (HSA, IRA, 401k)
•invest in low fee index funds
•periodically review my goals and strategy

What is your savings rate? By traditional savings do you mean sitting in a bank savings account earning a little bit of interest? Any high interest debt?

With that income I’d be a millionaire already. My HHI is about half that, been doing this for 6 years and my net worth is around your HHI. Just to give you an idea how quickly you can build!

But I don’t know why it went down another 10 points. More below:

Hello All,
Since companies are moving into a Hybrid/back to office mode, many of us are required to move to the respective office locations. I'm not sure if this has been discussed here before,
But for a new comer to either of these locations (me) can I get a comparative Cost of living among the three cities
Pune Vs Bangalore Vs Hyderabad.
Thanks 😊

My company recently changed my commission plan by capping half of our variable payout, resulting in the sales reps making roughly 30% less on commission checks when going over quota. Whether I should do m.tech in cs or mba in HR or just keep on switching?

I’m considering building up my I bonds to eventually replace my 6 month expenses emergency savings account. Any downsides I’m not considering? If I slowly ramp up and ladder, I can partially withdraw any amount if I need to after a year. Even with lower inflation in the future, I’m guessing it’s going to beat a savings account yield. Thoughts?

Question about what to do next. I’ve maxed out everything—401k, HSA, IRA, backdoor Roth 401k. My bills are all paid. Get a hair transplant?

I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot (including mental health) to get to this but it seems a little tiring knowing I still have so long to go. I recently moved out and in with my BF so my expenses are split, but nonetheless they are still expenses. Any tips on continuing this journey and keeping the drive?
