Got a temp offer for less than a year without promise of turning into full-time. Wanted to know what ppl think about temp jobs (looks bad on resume if I don't turn full-time later within the company?) and what comp should look like (e.g. 1.2× of regular comp?).

Got another perm offer in a different industry for similar salary, but I might have to relocate and I'm concerned the work may involve translation instead of pure legal work.

Looking for advice (& empathy): Started out in advertising, then became a journalist. Moved to the US for grad school, and back to advertising few years ago. Now stuck at a company where I’m deeply unhappy but they sponsor the visa (not H1B, so it’s not a huge ask). Also not too sure of advertising as my heart is still in journalism but this pays the bills. Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. Why do I work so much?

It’s because I have little family and few, if any, friends. Had a rough childhood. My way of making an impression on others has always been through work.

By working, I do something I’m good at and makes people appreciate me, while covering for my loneliness and feeling of inferiority. It’s sort of the only thing holding me afloat.

When I’m probably never going to have friends or a family of my own, becoming partner is the next best thing.

Tax senior with CPA at small firm. Best way to get to Big 4 audit? (LA or OC) Went to non-target so little to no alumni at B4. I don’t mind the switch to a lower title since audit was always my preference and was never a fan of tax (stayed local for family).

Just over 6 years in B4 financial services tax in PNW area. Mostly doing compliance work pumping out K1s and returns. Just got an industry offer at 155k 15% bonus and 100k equity (4year vesting). Fully remote position with occasional travel. Should I accept? I know it's a long shot but deep down I always had an ambition to pursue PA to see if I can make a partner. Please share your experience.

Are all Big 4 firms equally tone deaf, or is it just EY? I feel like they don’t address the fact that people are leaving in droves and the ones left behind are burnt out - we continue to have these big growth targets, but fewer and fewer people to actually do the work.

Is the Supervisor role at RSM equivalent to the Senior role or the Manager role at traditional firms?

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.
