I am a senior auditor. Left a previous company to try a different IA team. Now I want to go back to my old company but I’m stuck. I’m qualified for a senior lead role with years of experience and what they are looking for in terms of risk experience but I have not solo lead an engagement. I have co-lead multiple engagements and have managed staff. Should I go back to my old company for more money but the same role or stay at my company with no idea when I will get opportunity to lead? I’m stuck.

Is anyone hiring an internal audit manager with 7 YOE in industry they can refer me to? In public now. business process and IT Audit experience mostly in SOX but also operational audits, Department reviews, and some DRP work in every industry except media/entertainment and government.

So I’m probably thinking too much. But I’m looking to leave public accounting and have an opportunity with internal audit. I want to make sure where I go I have good opportunities to advance and if needed be marketable to other companies. Would it be difficult to get a job in IA if most of my experience has been auditing private non-404 asset mgmt funds? I really enjoy process walkthroughs when I have them though. Also, does title matter that much in IA? I’m a manager now, but based on job descriptions it looks like I might have to go for a senior auditor role because audit manager roles generally call for 8+ years from what I’m seeing. Can title be negotiated?
