I am an ECE graduate from NIT, placed on-campus and working as a developer in Oracle for 2.5 years now.
I was rejected by a couple of hiring managers after 3 rounds of EXCELLENT interviews for internal transfer, saying they need CSE graduates.
Besides DSA/OS/DBMS/System Design knowledge, what else do I need to upskill myself to be at par with CSE graduates?
I am a little clueless now, what if this continues to happen externally also?
I don't see any point going for MTech in CSE now.

The answer is simple: The management/seniors in your company is not supportive as per career prospective.

True. It was really awkward to hear that.

If they guilt-trip you on the basis of the choice you have taken in your life, then this is a clear case of discrimination that is entirely unfair.

What's your CCTC?

Peace. I was just trying to shift from fullstack development to backend development (both Java) role 🥲.
But yeah, I would have understood if this happened during the campus placements. For an experienced candidate, it felt a little weird that's all.
I'll keep trying to upskill myself in the meanwhile. Thanks for the support.

Switch to other firm!

Yes I am trying. But does this happen elsewhere as well? That would be so demoralising.
Why should degree matter now if I have already worked for over 2.5 years now?

Hello, I was in a verbally abusive college relationship and struggled with mental health. Therefore, my gpa suffered greatly (2.9). However, I now have a good job and am doing very well. Should I explain the reason for my low GPA in my MBA app? I’m applying to LBS, Booth, Stanford, UCLA, UCB etc.

I wanted to move to devops role. But without experience no one is giving opportunity and they are considering my profile as QA only 😒

Hi peeps!
Got two offers on the table, who love to hear your advice!

- Finance Business Partner for a late stage (Series D/valuation 3B) startup tech company

- Corp Dev analyst role for a listed niche gambling company

The tech job pays 15k more, but from what I can see will be a cluster and super long hours (has EU stakeholders). Maybe a pipe dream, but I want to have a "somewhat" decent wlb while still growing my career toward strategy and finance.

Thoughts on which one is better?

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. My main argument to choose blockchain is the easy entry with little experience and high salary, I plan on growing my skills during the bear market and get a job once the market recovers. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.

I was a Manager at a Big4 doing PM fed work earlier this year. I decided to join a small firm to pursue cloud sales. However, the position is extremely technical in nature and I'm required to speak tech ( kubernetes, openshift, CICD) to potential clients.
While I have learned from the exposure, I dont intend to continue in a tech role & looking to exit. I'm thinking of Customer/ Partner Success Manager roles with one of the CSPs. Are there other non tech cloud exit opps in industry to consider?

I’m a new analyst at a PE firm, and my associate keeps blaming me for things she does wrong. Like she will tell me I made the wrong change, even though she is the one who changed it. Or in calls with other people, she won’t take responsibility for things that she told me to do that the other person calls out as wrong. How can I handle this situation without making her mad but also not letting her step all over me?

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

Hello everyone,

I wanted to know how long does Course5i take to release an offer, I cleared all rounds last friday and was going to get an offer from HR early this week (by Monday evening or Tuesday) but didn’t get any offer till now.

I loved the role and I am still excited to join the organisation so mailed a follow up to the HR yesterday but did not get any response till now. I do not want to follow up for the next 1-2 days since I feel it would be too pushy from my end.
