I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. My family mistreated me when I was younger, and now that I don’t live at home, they don’t call or bother to look for me, because frankly, I think they have a hard time admitting what happened - and will never apologize to me either. Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. One of my best friends growing up just passed away. We lost contact with each other a year or two after graduating high school and I recently came to learn he was was battling cancer the past 5 years and ultimately succumbed to the illness. He hid it well from everyone and led a very private life during it all. To make matters worse, he had just turned 25. Seeing pictures of the condition he was in towards the end of his fight broke my heart. I wish I had known so I could’ve been there for him.
