And will the Retention bonus will also be considered as taxable income of the the current year taxes(2022-23)?

Florida probably
Made the move from NYC to central Florida back at the start of the pandemic (newly fully remote worker thanks to Covid-19).
My take home income literally shot up by like $2500 a month. My rent decreased from $3200 a month for a 2 bd 1 bath to $0 because I now have a mortgage that’s $1400 a month for a 4 bd 2 bath house. My $400 a month parking cost disappeared.
The only thing I hate is the food here sucks. Mostly chain restaurants for tourists.
Oh and I’ve made as much in the increase in value on my house over the past ~2 years as I’ve taken home during the same time.
Florida or Texas
Tampa, FL! No income taxes, awesome beaches, still has a downtown/city vibe, and way more affordable than NYC (although getting more expensive)
Downtown St. Pete would be the biggest, channelside district near downtown would be next, it feels a lot bigger when everyone is out and about after a lightning game but i agree it could be considered more of a big town vibe than a small city one. If it’s got buildings over 20 stories all around and I have to park in a parking garage that’s city to me- so my view may be skewed for you NYC folks.
Please not Texas. We're full
Florida to avoid taxes.
Southern California for outdoors, beach, weather.
NYC makes it difficult to “avoid taxes” if your employer doesn’t have another office location.
San Diego is pretty nice; might have some good luck in North and South Carolina
I know a bunch of people like this that moved to Miami, but the COL is higher in comparison to other parts of FL
I wouldn’t be surprised at least based on rent, but other things I would say it depends.
Utah
TX
NY is one of the biggest tax refund states in the country, behind California. If you’re actually paying that much in taxes, realize that nobody else is, and that you should see an accountant or CPA
