I am in a situation where I genuinely believe that the partner I am mainly working with is doing some things that are not helpful to the client, and I feel that I am getting the seniority (5th year) to own it and speak up - but how?

He won’t fire me, even if I do things he disagrees with, because the clients are happy with what I do, my hours are good, and it’s a quite niche practice area.

Easy. Just email the client directly, bypassing the partner completely. We actually appreciate that kind of initiative, and we’d typically put in a good word for you to the partner

funnylikesmart

Come up the solution, approach the partner in a friendly way and say “hey, I was thinking about this and I think the direction that would work best is X. What do you think?”

like

And if the partner overrules you, then you need to just accept it.

What do you mean by “not helpful”?

like

I know I don’t care about my job bc I’m fine if the partner gives the client ok service lol. As long as it’s not fraud / unethical who cares.

Current TC: 88k (83k base, 5k performance bonus), 3 YoE. Healthcare specific domain consultant. Looking to get into strategy work. Offer at strategy firm is 95k base pre-negotiation . Is this worth jumping over for? Tips on negotiating higher? For reference, manager level at my firm pays 95k base and if I stay, that would take 3-4 years for promo. Thanks for any advice!

I have a Deloitte PDM offer. I’ve read about the positives/negatives and I’m so torn. When my recruiter says I’ll have “144 hours” of PTO (18 days), will I definitely still run into the utilization trap of not being able to take it? Are all projects 40-42 hr weekly caps? Third question: I’m new in the DC area, are PDMs invited to firm socials? Trying to make friends! Thanks in advance

Hi everyone. I'm pretty early in my career (just over 1 YOE) & not really enjoying my current role as a Consultant/Developer because of the type of projects I get combined with some mobility issues. However, I'm really interested in technical program management or project management and I'm looking for any advice on how to get there bc I've been applying, but can't even seem to get a call back.

(Also would really appreciate some likes on this post to get my 11 likes out of the way 😀)

Is it a big deal if a partner questions how much time you spent on something? Can’t they just write off time that seems excessive, or am I missing something? Sometimes I take a really long time to do things because I switch matters frequently, and I do a lot of research to make sure I’m doing things right.
