I am not in BL, but when someone says they get free lunch, is that the ability to order lunch on the firm’s dime or that they have a cafeteria which is free?

At KE Chicago, we have a pretty amazing free cafeteria, cafe open 5 days a week during regular business hours for breakfast and lunch, and bar (the latter only open certain days/hours). Firm also permits expensing $50 of delivery for weekday dinners if you’re at the office late for client work.

For me, it's gotta mean I can get free food efficiently and without having to go to a needless meeting. But seriously, if you're making 200 to 600 k/yr, the important thing is FAST lunch.

I won't get out of bed for free anything these days, but I would be damn annoyed if I couldn't get food and back to work within 15m, preferably 5-10m. I don't come to the office so that I can enjoy my lunch. I eat my lunch so I can keep working and get the F outta there.

LW Chicago has catered lunches, so it’s just whatever is brought in. Some days are ordering but it’s through Fooda, select dishes from select restaurants. Nothing spectacular, but gets you food and back to your desk with limited thinking or time wasted.

Depends on the firm but yes it’s generally one of those two things

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal? I know another AA that handles 3+ people but idk if she’s hourly or salary. Any thoughts?

Hi Fishes,
How do you cope up with impostor syndrome when it comes to coding skills? There are many less experienced Devs who are solid on coding , and getting interviewed by them, sometimes I observe they know so much more. Even if I make it through that round, and learn new things, this constant anxiety of not being good enough does not go away. Anyone else faces this too?

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
