I asked for a raise six months ago and my manager said "let's revisit at your review." Review came and went with no mention of it. Do I bring it up again or did I somehow agree to drop it? Feeling stuck on how to re-open the conversation without sounding like I'm nagging.

Your manager is stalling you out by not even mentioning the topic. Come back with a competitors offer in hand.

i hope i can get another offer!

I had a similar situation and what worked for me was following up via email after the performance review thanking my manager for their ongoing support, expressing my desire to continue growing with the company, and stating my request to revisit our conversation about a salary increase to keep up with market rates. I attached a data driven PDF letter with my accomplishments/metrics and research from Glassdoor backing up my request for a market adjustment. Things started moving after that. I received notification from my boss and their boss that they received my request and it would be reviewed with HR. My manager later shared that the letter was super helpful because it gave them something to share with their stakeholders to justify the salary increase. I ended up getting the 20% raise I asked for.

I think you should have mentioned it in your review, usually they go over them with you and you have to sign them. Sometimes you can negotiate terms for a higher raise than they originally put with the review, especially if you agree to fix certain behaviors and sign a 6 month contract saying it will be taken away if you dont improve. At this point how long ago was the review? Did you already sign anything stating a new pay range that you agreed to?

I once had to literally tell my manager that my review was crap and mention all the things that I had been going above and beyond on. I agreed on a few things I could fix and told them I would sign something because they wanted me to if I was going to get the raise I wanted. At that time it was a whole .60 cent I was fighting over, but Ive taken my experience with me to other places. Bring counter offers if you think you are being under paid and want to continue to work there.

you are right, i think i will set up another meeting to discuss it. thanks for the helpful advice!

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….

I don’t want to invite potential conflict by updating my landlord, my lawyer partner says the no pets clause is void in toronto anyway - but I worry about a bad landlord reference if they find out i.e come for repairs.
