I can’t make a decision EY VS PWC. Money wise pretty much the same. Team wise I love both. Pros for EY: special team in my area and I can just do that. (PWC could have that too I just didn’t interview with them) Cons for EY: Their round table and promotion is off by one busy season. A lot can happen in one busy season (if I’m not ready this season I can be ready next). Pros for PWC: round table and promotion right away. Higher bonus. Cons for PWC: not sure if team is specialized in my area.

Just finished my first year in audit. Recruiter reached out to me for a role with a 30% bump in salary. Total comp included it gets closer to 45%. I actually enjoyed my first year and especially being done with busy season now feeling pretty good. Not at all actively looking to leave, but just looking for advice on if I would be crazy for not pursuing an opportunity for so much more money at least a little further. My friend joined Capgemini recently as a test lead and they put him a project which is on its worst ever stage and people are always resigning from this project. He tried managing but everything is scattered and now his mental health is also disturbed. He asked for release but project manager said he will give PIP. What should he do ? Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?

How common is it for first year associates to spin wheels? In my 4th month, I spent 6 hours doing a return with 3 K-1 royalties, 2 Schedule C with few expenses, and the usual 1099-DIV/INT, including consolidated 1099. Budgeted time was 5 hours total. I have yet to get my return reviewed.

At any level above Senior, how do u manage the relationship between utilization and realization, which is an inverse relationship. Seems to be either blow the budget (and write it off), or eat a lot of time.
