Hi Folks,
Hope you are doing well, I need valuable suggestion on few of my queries.
I had joined KPMG(KGS) on April 2022, during the interview i have been told that i would be working on Java Backend Development as my background belongs to same technology and my interview was also happened on Java/Spring/Microservices; but they put me on Low-Code / No code Platform and its totally tool based work. I am frustrated with the current work as i didnt find anything productive to learn.Continued in com KPMG @

You’re a copywriter. A damn lucky one who doesn’t have a CD getting in your way.
Hire directors for spots: CD
Final casting decisions: ACD/CD
Rest of casting decisions: ACD/Senior Creative Team
Wardrobe: AD
Cast VO: CW
Direct VO: CW
Art Direction: AD
Color Correction: AD
Sound Design & Music: Hipster Intern Millennial who inherited dads vinyl collection and has music equipment with glass bulbs on it.
Actually, helpful! 😂
Everything you've mentioned is the job of a creative team.
However, usually a CD will check in at various points, approving / guiding things as you go. Are you saying you don't have that? Even if it's not a creative director weighing in, I hope you're bouncing ideas and decisions off more than your partner as you go. It's easy to get tunnel vision and miss something that's obvious to an outsider.
It’s been that way for me since I was a senior creative. Maybe mid level. CDs, in my experience don’t get so deep into the weeds that they’re gonna cast VO or sit through color correction.
So, no, overall I don’t look at what you’ve listed out and see it as the sole domain of a CD. But maybe I don’t have full context of your day-to-day.
Do any of these decisions go past a CD or ACD or ECD?
This is all well within the realm of a creative team’s responsibility.
A CD usually oversees major decisions and offers input but this list of jobs doesn’t make you a CD.
I’m a junior and also do all of those things.
You make all these decisions, not the client? You have a good gig. Stop thinking the grass could be greener and enjoy what you have. If you’re doing what you’re doing and doing it well, you’ll earn the title of CD soon enough.
First—you should feel pretty good that you’re given that kind of trust and creative freedom, no? WAY better than being on the invisible low end of an agency flying squad. Second, the title thing all depends on the way your shop works—if CDs usually handle those aspects and you are tasked for same, it’s CD level work; otherwise, not. Personally, I’ve always been fine with having a savvy creative team, backed by a good producer, go forth and do. It’s their idea and as long as we have the lines of communication in good working order, pretty much has always been successful.
Honestly I wish I had that much creative control. I definitely get a hand in casting, wardrobe, editing, VO, and music, but at the actual shoot my CD takes over
To be clear, this wasn’t a complaint. It was a question to clarify what qualifies a CD.
A CD might have 4 of those projects happening simultaneously, so they will use you to narrow down VO or casting or wardrobe so they’re not sorting through 2000 options. From there, they’ll agree or disagree with your selects with the intent of getting the best creative or simply not giving the client something to whine about.
Overall, I think a CD butting in on too many of these details would show that they’re more of a doer than a delegator - and not management material.
Do you weigh in on the brief before the briefing? Do you work with account and resourcing to assign teams to the briefs? Do you report directly to an ECD or CCO? Do you have creative teams that you oversee (ie you provide feedback on their work, advocate for them and ideally do some level of mentoring)?
This isn’t CD. This is working under a good CD or an checked out CD. Could be either.
