I did ASC 740 and C Corp work for 8 years. I’ve been doing the whole small firm thing for 3 years and deeply miss the technical aspects of my old role. There’s something about that work that excites me. I haven’t found that fulfillment in my current work. I hesitate going back to my old firm due to PE and being out of large firm life for 3 years. Have any of you gone through this and if so, how did you navigate? I couldn’t really care less about making partner so that’s really not a factor.

Question: I’ve been friends with this person for 7 years. I’m pretty controversial in my views and when it gets too wild she just tells me to STFU and I do. Well, tonight she was pissing me off and I told her to STFU for the first time ever and she didn’t. I just up on her on a group call with our other friend and they’re asking if I’m ok… I keep telling them nothing I say is going to be helpful so I just won’t. I want to cuss her out and tell her about herself (relevant to the argument). Help

Feeling really overwhelmed and wondering if anyone else has struggled with something similar: I’ve been with the same company for about three years and I feel like it’s time for a change of pace. Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
