Question: I’ve been friends with this person for 7 years. I’m pretty controversial in my views and when it gets too wild she just tells me to STFU and I do. Well, tonight she was pissing me off and I told her to STFU for the first time ever and she didn’t. I just up on her on a group call with our other friend and they’re asking if I’m ok… I keep telling them nothing I say is going to be helpful so I just won’t. I want to cuss her out and tell her about herself (relevant to the argument). Help

I have pretty strong social phobia and am worried about making friends. I'm going to be working for an engineering company so I imagine I don't have to be really up on the latest trends or anything but how can I talk to people without making it sound unnatural?

Any tips for organizing a bedroom, closet, dresser & bathroom? My teen has IADHD, and low executive functioning. Her room looks like a land mine. Clean clothes are mixed in with dirty, her desk is a disaster, she won’t let go of clothes she’s outgrown, drawers are open with clothes hanging out. A therapist said to close her door if we don’t want to see it but it’s more than that. She needs this important life skill & I don’t know how to help. Easier to organize w/o her but that’s not a solution.

My dad who lives in Asia just announced that he had a medical issue. I’m starting to enter the age where I’m going to take care of him financially. It’s a $2,000 hospital bill which in the US is nothing compared to what it represents there (which he can’t afford). He’s going to be fine! Just wanted to share with this group as many of you can understand what it feels like to support your parents when they’re old, not the other way around. I feel so blessed I can help him. 🙏🏽

Anyone feel as if it’s hard to stay with a company when you’re the only one of color? (&young) I’ve work for 3 companies in past 5 years and have yet to make meaningful colleague relationships. I just do not relate to the conversation and just find it hard to picture myself being a long-term employee. I’ve had better relationships when working at wal-mart when I was in college. I feel it takes away some of the joy of having to go to work.

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.

Struggling with a friendship that has become toxic & fills me with anxiety. various factors have caused us to drift but it feels like nothing I say or do now is right. The issues seem to really come to a head for one when she is drunk, using it to air grievances with me. When sober she doesn’t feel like talking about it. My boss makes jokes about me being from a different country whenever there is a work meeting or a gathering with coworkers, even though he knows where I am from. This usually occurs when I meet new work-related people or for example if I am in a situation that involves ethnic related subjects.

How do you care less? I know this sounds like a strange question but I feel like I try too hard and I end up getting burned out or feel resentment. It also isn’t getting me anywhere lol. No one is asking me to go above and beyond and now I feel like I should just collect the check and do the minimum at this point. However, I struggle with doing that because I may just be one of those over achievers.
