i was in the exact same position 4 years ago. being a junior art director, you aren’t expected to know how to do everything so don’t feel like you need to hit the ground running (also, you quickly realize that no one 100% knows what they’re doing.. it’s a little insane). watch and learn from your CD’s, learn to sell your ideas, and get used to them being killed haha
Thanks for the advice! This is really putting me at more ease! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
As a designer you are usually expected to show design options that are safely within what’s been done or will sell the idea easily. Don’t be afraid to push your ideas into crazy places now that you are working as an art director. It’s much easier to make something tamer than it is to make a safe boring idea more interesting
Alright! Will put that to mind every day! THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING 🔥🙏🏻

Good luck! Go get it!
congrats! he probably saw conceptual skills in your work as well. from experience, art directors are better at concepting and bringing to life the context in which the ideas live. designers are better at producing the assets that align with said concept. of course the line is blurry between art director and designer but for the most part let’s just say art directors concept and designers produce.
THANK YOU! I WILL DO MY BEST AND GROW!
Where are you based? It would be good to take some night classes or something to learn how to properly concept. There are definitely some differences between design and art direction and it will help you to delve into those differences. If you are based in LA, something like the Bookshop is a good way to learn.
I’m in Asia! But thanks I’ll definitely dive into more thing. And submerge myself in the archives and history
