I’ve thought long and hard about why this happened to me at my old agency. It completely made me go into depression and gave me anxiety I never had before. After going to therapy, I realized that I’m not always going to get what I deserve and that is okay. If you’re not being seen the way you want to be seen, try your luck elsewhere. Don’t work for people who don’t get your value. It’s a career killer and soul crushing experience.

This is exactly how I was feeling and the same situation I was in at my last agency. I was constantly feeling anxious, even when I left work. It got to the point where it was affecting my every day life. I then sat and asked myself, are these people who actually want to me to succeed in my career? Am I meeting the goals I wanted to when starting this position? Is there any career development here? And quickly realized, it wasn’t the right fit. I started branching out and applying to other agencies and startups and felt empowered and valued from single conversations with directors and VPs.
Bottom line—if you are already feeling this way, it’s time to think about yourself and your career. You don’t owe this agency anything.
Aw man that last line got me. That’s exactly how I feel most of the time— that I owe them something. But you’re absolutely right I don’t. At all.
A social coordinator putting together a pitch?? 🤔🤔 I don’t even let JR art directors do that. I smell dishonesty.
And if you are being honest, stop working for praise and credit. You’ll die unhappy. Do what people are saying and ask for what you want. But I’ve never seen a social coordinator trusted with a deck or creative idea
Yeah this is fishy. Is this the world’s smallest agency? The tiny shop I came from, I can see it. But any legit ad agency? Ehh. Doubtful

Ask for what you want! If it’s a raise, promotion, different projects... go for it!
How long have you been in your position? What is the extra work you are doing?
Someone once told me “you can’t expect behavior when you haven’t told someone you expect it”. Take it with a grain of salt - not all things should have to be said directly - but it did make me realize I had to be direct with my boss and team if I was frustrated, no matter how uncomfortable it made me. Set up a “check in” with your boss, talk through your accomplishments, ask for feedback. You can set monthly check ins, tell them what you want / are working towards, etc. THEN, once you try this if nothing changes you should look for new options. It helped me know I’ve done everything I could and it’s not me, it’s them. Maybe your place is just toxic and not worth it, but the advice did help me 😊

Leave. Either you the company culture is toxic or you are a bad fit. In any case, sounds like your growth there has peaked and what can you realistically hope to gain other than a pay check within a the next 6 to 9 months
Boy do I know this feeling
Self promotion is key...and that is a separate skill, and a time suck. I have noticed that those who work the hardest don't have time to self promote. Catch 22 really.
I would first ask why you would want to stay at a place that you feel undervalued? If you truly feel like you want to stay, then make sure to communicate this to a supervisor you trust. Give yourself a timeline that you are willing to walk away and find a new job.
Maybe reset the role requirements. Sounds like you’re doing more than coordinating.
Seems like a waste of energy to worry about something you can’t control (title standing in the way).
You need to decide if you believe in yourself (seems like you do) and decide what you want. If you want more respect and credit you probably have to work through your manager. If they’re not delivering, ask them or HR if you can be a part of a mentor program so someone else in leadership can be an advocate for you. Do you have a weekly staff meeting? Ask to present your work in that meeting.
Above all else ask for a raise and promotion. And bring in a great argument for both.
If all that doesn’t work start looking. Put a good CV and book together and find your next gig
