What prompted you to resign with no backup plan? Bold move!

Why would you resign into the worst job market since 08?
You will come to see this as one of your best decisions in life. Taking control!
Being jobless on purpose is taking control?
I am going to do the same if my work situation doesn’t improve. Consulting is getting bad

Welcome to the detox period and re discovering who you are as a human being.

Horrible company. Glad you left. Take time to detox from the toxicity and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
12 years doing what? What concrete things can you do? Start by eliminating what you can’t and/or won’t do. That will leave you with options you can and/or will do, meaning mediocre or great options. Apply to both and try to get either. Even if you end up with the mediocre options it’s still a job and then you can go for the great!
Very helpful thank you!
Take time to figure out what you want in the next role. What would make you happier, feel more supported or just whatever you want to experience differently. That will help shape what’s next. Then I would recommend to reach out to people in your network and have conversations about what you’re interested in, maybe something will come to mind for them. Good luck, I’m sure it a tough decision.

Hope you have 12 months of salary saved. BTW, there were 100 desperate people lined up to take on the “grind” you rejected.
Start your jobs filters/alerts. It's a saturation of like talents unemployed now. Sooner you apply, sooner you can get interviews. It's so much about the yrs of exp now. There's over 1000+ of you. It's how do you stand out? If you know someone at a company you are interested in, try to get a letter of recommendation. Draft the letter and send it to the person to submit if that helps them and you. Took me 4 mon to get an official offer with my 20+ yrs of exp. Avg of 10 applications a week.👍🏾
Figure out what you want and go for it

Why would you do that?
Just tired of the grind.
You must be an INFP!
Volunteer or go non-profit since lack of income doesn't seem to bother you. Do dog walking, house sitting, serving flexible things if you need the cash
I would have suggested a leave of absence rather than a full on resignation. Then you could take a break and have the option to return. Like others why did you resign? Was it toxic? Was it performance?
Take a vacation and long break. Figure out what you want to do. Hope you have some savings and are in good health. This market is not great; and jobs are to come by. But looking back many years fron now, it may be the right decision for you to leave.
I took 3 months off unpaid and traveled whilst considering if I wanted to stay or go. 30 years at one of the biggies and I'm just done with it. (I did not go the MD route: I got off the road and took corporate function job when my first kid came so it was a nice rise for 7 years then steady & work from home) - decided when I came back I'd seek to separate and find what I enjoyed since I was having a hard time grinding out the bureaucratic incremental junk. My plan is still TBD but I am thinking I can maybe get by teaching AI adoption to small firms. I don't need to make the full paycheck though I might be able to. I can consult with small companies who are slow adopters, teach them some basic stuff on how to use chatgpt or whatever, upskill myself and get into their business processes seeking improvements and automations and such -- or maybe just show them how to use the tools. I just need to hustle as I'm basically on a 'coast FI' glide path - put my savings to work, manage my spending, just find a way make enough to get by for a few years as a worst case... fortunately, I've been redistributing savings and investments to the point where I can weather quite a long time with minimal income. and I'm 55 so I can access 401k without the 10% penalty.
I believe that the gap between what AI can do (for typical white collar workers in small firms) and how much people are making use of it is a big enough opportunity that I could make ends meet. And if I'm wrong, I got skills enough to skate by doing whatever. It's been a good run and enough to take care of my 2 boys until they got through college. If I don't take a flyer now, while I still want to work and be productive, then when would I ever?
Good luck to you.
dope plan doing the same thing while consulting in construction tech if you want a target for SLOW adopters -
Life gets better for sure. Your central nervous system will thank you! Just be careful about your finances - I left after 10 years , my wife had her job and I saved a shit ton of money during my 10 years , so it was totally worth it. I now regret not leaving sooner
I hope you find happiness - if you have money saved - go travel - if you don't have a lot saved go to SE Asia - the change of scenery and pace will help you heal and reset - life gets better
