Bain & Company I’m currently prepping for Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company interviews scheduled in the next 2 months. For those that interviewed with both, how would you suggest I tailor my preparation for each one? I understand McKinsey is interviewer led while Bain is the opposite. But other than that, is there anything else I should work on separately for each one?

Sounds like BDO is a cheapskate firm
That doesn’t sound right, talk to your P&C, they don’t do that…
This happened to me 2 years ago. Put in my notice, and was told I can “take off earlier” on the Friday of the week.
Had to find out from HR later that I wasn’t getting paid. I asked the partner of the practice if there was a misunderstanding, and he gave me the dumbest herpderp uhh idk answer. He left out some important details of letting me go early, and acted like he forgot. BDO is trash.
partners are d****
To big 4… other firms do not exist… to all the accounting firm… people are just a number.
Happy July 4th, have some fun today.
They said they would not pay you the 14 days? Also, if you’re in the US, B4 is infamous for doing this. They usually pay out the two week period but they do this as normal practice. Anyway congratulations on the new job!
Firms kick you out immediately if your going to a competitor to reduce risk of you stealing clients. They usually pay the two weeks though
Another day at BDO..
You can apply for unemployment
EY did the same to me
I've only seen this for underperforming staff where they had little to no scheduled work. Also with the ESOP, it's a bit of a wild time at BDO.
Definitely odd. But fun anecdote: when i quit kpmg HR told me to call it on like day 3 but assured me i would be paid for the full 2 week period. Then they just didn’t pay me. Glad i left that place but word to the wise, once u give notice cc your personal email on all correspondence so you have a record.
You should have been paid the 14 days notice period if they wanted you to leave on the spot.
Firstly, get your written confirmation of employment. After you have that I would be writing a letter to BDO’ HR people demanding your 14 days money for the early tetmination. Depending on where you are located there are also state authorities that regulate labor contracts and that is an avenue of redress which you can explore by filing a complaint with the State Labor Authority. Its called a try on by BDO to see who will waive the white flag first. Don’t let them walk all over you!
This isn’t unusual for any for any firm, especially if you’re not busy or you’re going to a competitor.
Hate to break it to you, most firms do these to unimportant employees.
They gotta make you leave immediately because they afraid you might steal files from the firm. Secondly they know you won’t be giving your all in the next 14 days, so they might as well to let you leave now.
If you are somewhat important, they would have a transition period because they might still need your help. I have seen people stayed on for like a month after giving notices.
It totally depends. I’ve resigned from 3 of the big 4 and in the process now. I’ve never been asked to accelerate nor been shorted. I’ve been offered dates of my choice and time off first to be sure I’m making the decision right for me, before I put anything in writing, like right now.
If they fired you , sue them. They r supposed to pay u severence.
Damn I’m sorry to hear… at KPMG I was given a CTP that stays on payroll for two months with benefits and if I find a job before the period is up they’ll pay me a lump sum of my remaining weeks and PTO. I know BDO isn’t the Big 4 but you’d think they’d show SOME mercy in this market…
I never give 2 weeks they wont give you 2 weeks when they fire you, you could die today and they will replace you tomorrow
I'm interested
Double check you contract. Most usually have it in there that you are required to give 2+ weeks notice but they can ask you leave before that. However, it usually also includes they must still then pay for the 2 weeks since it’s them asking you to leave earlier.
When I left uncle D. I gave a notice period and left 11 days earlier than my resignation date. The firm initially “requested” I leave the following day but I reminded them of the tasks that needed to be complete to transition client work. So I rolled off all my work in 3 days after giving notice versus preparing my teams over the 2 week period. I also informed them that I was “aware” that they paid other individuals through their resignation period and so was expecting the same. I did not sign anything provided by the firm agreeing to an expedited termination date. I cc’d my personal email on all correspondence before my outgoing email capability was disabled. I was paid through my original notice date.
