I’ve seen more and more articles covering the shecession recently. Thought this Digiday piece on the Ad industry was especially interesting. Any women thinking about leaving, or seeing female colleagues more affected by layoffs or choosing to leave? https://digiday.com/media/advertising-industry-grapples-with-womens-work-life-balance/amp/
What is the % raise from SA to M?

PIP= Performance Improvement Plan. Your formal documentation from HR explaining your specific deficiencies and your acknowledgement that failure to address them will lead to termination. Scary but recoverable.
I got a 4 my second year because of low utilization and a horrible counselor. I was not put on a PIP because my PEs were 2s and a 3. Since then I've received YE ratings of 2 and also received a 1 the year before last. So it's not a death sentence. Just build your network to support you and ensure you will be staffed continuously.
Been there. 0%/0% is probable. What were the reasons? Are you on a PIP now? I know it feels like shit. You can either get pissed and leave or use it as an opportunity. You basically have nothing to lose. I was able to pursue what I wanted, stopped being diplomatic and let 'er rip. Got promoted to M the next year. The choice is yours, but I'd understand either way.
No raise no bonus, and the 4 can be used against you in future layoff rounds (talking from personal experience here) even if you have consistent high performance in future
A 4 is not a guaranteed layoff. I have spoken to multiple leaders of the firm who confirmed that. Stop misguiding people on here who are already scared shitless
Performance improvement plan. Like being on death row.
That's rough. Yeah you will be placed on a PIP and no bonus. Not sure if you will get a small raise. Even the 3 raises are shit
Not a pleasant situation to be in, for sure. I realized that my issues were the result of behaviors based on fear or apprehension. I withheld opinions for concern that they weren't insightful enough. Facing career death, I had nothing left to fear and let it all go. It can work out.
You can always transition to another firm and get your bonus/pay increase through a switch
Thanks D13 you're pretty much describing my situation... But idk if I have it in me anymore to stay loyal to a company that simply doesn't care
OP this sucks. But this was last year. Forget about it, don't worry and you make your game plan. If you are not comfortable with Uncle D, big deal, find something else. You want to fight it out here, put on your battle gear and prove others wrong. End of it, do what you like and where you like
You need a plan to up your utilization. The loss in income due to 0% bonus and raise is going to damage your career. In a normal year I wouldn't be stressed about a 4.
Won't say 100% but if you're a 4 you might as well get the PIP. It forces your counselor to clarify the exact issues and a plan to fix them. Beats being left to twist in the wind.
You have to find the right people that care. Remember, you leave people, not so much companies. I promise it will make all the difference in the world. Hang in there!
.
Sorry man. Best you can do now is work on those development opportunities. Why do you think you got a 4? Project side? Or PRD and network side?
Utilization has been over 100% in the last 8 months (issue was from before) and it is supposed to stay at over 100% for the next 8 months. I really need the money though, like really need it. Idk what to do to have them reconsider the 0% increase/bonus
No PIPs this year with RPM
What level are you OP? Also just apply to another consulting firm and get a level/pay bump. Not end of the world.
From my experience, 4 = PIP, no raise, obviously no promo. Not sure about AIP as I hadn't made C yet but I wouldn't expect any. Sucks especially when for stupid reasons -- the next year I hit all 2s and got my delayed promo (and SL transfer shortly after) though so it's definitely possible to bounce back. Your call on whether to stay or jump ship.
