I got an offer from Accenture and in the benefits brochure that was shared with me it states “8 weeks of maternity leave.” The website says 16 weeks and I used to work at Accenture (looking to boomerang) and when I was there in 2017 it was 16 weeks. Does anyone know if they recently changed their policy? 8 weeks seems super low for Accenture …

So given the physical toll on my wife I’m not going to argue the extra 8 weeks…

What I do take issue with is the amount of crap men get for actually taking the 8 weeks. I had several MDs give me shade for taking the full time, a project I had cited my lack of commitment in PA for my first kid (and my CC noting it probably cost me promotion by taking it when I did). There is an unstated expectation in some groups that this is not a right but rather something we should manage though if your male. I was even pressured to start a project during my leave my second time around, and when I refused sent on a crappy international project the first day back while my wife went home with a premie.

Just give me the 8 weeks and don’t hold it against me for taking it and trying to be a good dad.

I would argue this is something to flag up to HR. You cannot be penalized for something that is a policy set by the company.

like

It’s 16 weeks. I’m out on leave now. I believe it’s technically 8 weeks of maternity leave and then the other 8 is called something like ‘family bonding time’ and is for both the primary and secondary care giver.

like

I think the first 8 weeks is considered maternity leave ans the next 8 is primary caregiver leave.

Same result.

like

Yep, dads only get 8, moms get 16.

So much for gender equality, smh.

But your point was to have it equal. It is equal. Both parents get 8 weeks of parental leave. The other 8 weeks the women gets is for healing from carrying and birthing a child. Let’s not get that twisted.

Just restarted stimulants and already I'm dealing with twitches again. Does anyone else get these? No type of pain or anything just every once and a while my body will twitch strongly. Afterward I feel normal, but it's a bit annoying, and I can't control it at all which is a little disconcerting. Don't remember this from when I took stimulants as a kid, but it's been a while.

Hello,

Long time fishbowl lurker, first time poster.

I work in Healthcare consulting (8 yoe). I'm incredibly passionate about Healthcare and have thought a lot about how to make meaningful changes that keep people healthy and how it can be affordable and accessible to all. I know Google has been operating in the Healthcare market. Anyone here open to connect so I can learn more about its current activities/future plans? I'd like to see if there's a role that I'd be a good fit for.

Thank you!
