GT just went thru a PE deal and a lot of issues are now being dealt with. I’m in TA (tax) and have seen a ton of activity from GT folks at upper levels as their dreams of ownership are now much different than a few months ago.
What is driving your desire to change jobs? If you hate your current position and the office culture it might be worth the move if you know where you are headed is better via people you know there. If you are just exploring opportunities and not hating it where you are, then $8K and a lateral move isn't worth it at all. You need to ask yourself why you want to start over for a small raise, no new title, and an unknown environment before you make that decision.
I would not go to GT for only 8k unless you are really desperate for money
SA1, 8k after tax is approx $300 every 2 weeks. It is not a lot.
8k is not enough for a lateral move taking a step down from ey to gt. Unless you specifically want to get away from your current team
Unless you're getting pipd or something, I wouldn't dilute your value for only 8k. (I'm ex GT), fight for more money if you want to make the move.
I’m thinking about making the opposite move. GT is in a bit of flux right now and not a great place to be so I’d consider a different jump
I’d stay away from GT right now.
Yup
GT is a disaster at the moment I’d stay as far away as possible. We’ve laid off 200+ from tax in the last year with no end in sight.
I would not leave for the $8K, I would leave for a better quality of life.
To gt is not lateral
Hall of Fame Glaze and you don’t even work there😭
If it was the other way round, I would say go for it. Because you are moving to the big 4. The only way, a lateral movement makes sense is if you are changing industries, careers or if you literally hate your current job.
If these aren’t the issues, it’s not worth it unless you can negotiate for more.
I definitely would not take that role if I were you. I have not heard good things about GT lately.
Chief
Stay away if you're smart.
Not enough of a raise to move in my opinion
that's an immediate resume killer - you're commiting to public for the rest of your career
Yeah I’m in SALT and have worked at multiple firms of different sizes, jumped back and forth between industry and pa a few times and now back in industry. Was not even remotely a resume killer even with my last jump from Big 4 to industry where I went from Sr Manager to Director. I still wouldn’t make the move OP is contemplating, but only because the whole PE dumpster fire thing.
