If they wanted you to stay they would have matched the offer. Accept the external offer or keep looking.
Respectfully, LOL at thinking you had that kind of power at grade Consultant. Hopefully this serves as a wake-up call to everyone...
OP just move on and accept the job offer. Deloitte is known to lay people off May be not year end but next year
You don’t play that card unless you’re willing to move on. Move on!
Yea sorry OP, but I agree. You don’t ask for the match if you’re not willing to pull the plug.
What’s done is done, I’d probably leave.
Well you need to leave now, they sort of forced you to force your hand. You can't do this unless you're ready to leave and even then, I wouldn't stay unless they immediately bump up your pay.
Every coachee I've had who tries this - I tell them they have to be ready to take it. Good luck with the new role.
They called your bluff. Now you have to follow through or suffer the consequences. You probably won’t get laid off, but don’t expect to get extra raises or bonuses.

Why would you tell your current company that you're ready to leave before having an offer in hand you're ready to sign?
I would never ask an employer to counter, I would just move on lol
I agree, I would have just left and moved on. They just gave raises and it’s too close to it to ask for more.

Deloitte isn’t in the business of matching. They’ll find a cheaper version of you
You have to leave now
Bye bye time.
Never do that unless you’re prepared to accept the outside offer. It’s great leverage, but you can’t just assume that’s all it is. Hopefully you’re at least interested in the other job, time to accept it honestly.
What was the purpose of having that conversation? Like... I would not have brought that up if I weren't considering moving. Cause if it is just money... Now your manager knows you are onky interested in money and that is not good. Not necessarily retaliation but, they might remember
Yeah, having an impact is great and all, but "show me the money Jerry, SHOW ME THE MONEY!"
Just take the PwC offer

What level are you?
Presenting an competing offer is like pulling a gun. Once you make that decision, you better be fully prepared to use it.
Good luck in your new role! Enjoy slacking off during your notice period
Take the offer. Don't keep it be an empty threat.

Of course you have to leave now. You pretty much threatened the head of your team.
And quite frankly they obviously don’t value you if they’re letting you leave over 13 K.
Good luck at your next job!
It may backfire at year end, but I don’t think the retaliation will be getting laid off simply because we’re bleeding people right now. So I don’t think you have to worry about being fired, but I also don’t understand why you’d stay either
Playing that card is not easy. You have to be sure the firm wants you
Move on ! Don’t think else you will be cut out in next possible cycle
Ffs dude, don’t ever bring up an external offer if you aren’t afraid to walk.
