Lil tay is that you?
Let's hope she's not your new boss in six months.
Wait.. a diamond stud on her tooth? Like a dentist put it in? Please tell me more.
Also, something something nepotism. Something something burn the oligarchy.
“Get to know her! Maybe they’re nice! Maybe they’re sweet!” Yep that’s exactly what I did and what did I find out? One sent a photoshop file that crashed all the computers in the studio. The stories get worse but they were forgiven for everything. Because their parents are there it will always be your fault.
No. Way.
I’ve dealt with Nepotism before and it is 100% horrible and leads to bad things. Entitled children that are not talented at all, don’t understand the importance of a hard-earned dollar or paying your dues and are 100% better off financially than you will ever be. Good luck.
Gahhh had a nepotism hire once and am having a visceral reaction just thinking about it. His father was a highly desirable potential client so I was fucked. Kids’s education was worth more than my life and he couldn’t write a coherent email. But he did manage to mix up a bunch of agencies and call them by one another’s names, breaching all confidentiality of a pitch process. He cried, banged his head on the desk (this was pure drama and not a mental health issue - I’m not a total monster) and gave me a big speech about how he’s never been bad at anything in his life and how much I hurt his feelings when I held him reasonably accountable for an assignment that amounted to a light book report. His father called me. My boyfriend at the time threatened to break up with me if I mentioned his name but he was the bane of my existence. He was 6 years past teenager so the whole thing was just baffling, but so overprivileged he had zero life skills and blaming him felt like kicking a puppy. I spent so much time parenting Lord of the Millennials that I couldn’t get my own work done so I promoted my nepotism whatever-comes-after-millennial (they’re better) intern who, mind you, had braces and left work at 4pm to go to his SAT tutor, to be his boss.
I’m going to stop talking about him now so you guys don’t break up with me too.
Seriously, the tooth just might trump all of that though, this is the best thing I’ve read all day.
This is not the intern, but this is how she looks. Also - the internship is paid and paid well
I’d rather her - she can at least take direction...
Don’t judge a book by its cover give it few days maybe she’s not that bad
I’m sorry... did you say on HER TOOTH?!?!?
Does the internship come with dental benefits?
Maybe she doesn't want to be there as much as you don't want her. You never know what her dad is pushing her into and what is of her own volition. Or, maybe give her a good chance to prove herself to you. Appearance is superficial, a construct potentially designed to produce the kind of reaction you're having in other parts of her life - she just hasn't figured out the work stuff yet.
If by intern you mean she is unpaid and the position is temporary, seems fair. If it is a paid position or is permanent it’s not an internship it’s nepotism and unfortunately you should just smile and deal with it or YOUR job could be the one that’s temporary.
Oooh, you got a Must Hire.
Go Google and download a dissertation entitled "Rebranding Diversity: Colorblind Racism Inside The U.S. Advertising Industry.”
It’s 300-ish pages of deliciousness and drama in NY ad agencies. Lots of stories of clients’ kids getting hired and promoted over and over. No diamond tooth studs, but close.
Let’s hope you are not forced to hire and then 6 months later given the task to fire her...
If your company has a whistleblowing hotline, call and report it.
You’re mad cause she’s cooler than you?
Just go with the flow
