I have a client with clear mental health issues. She is extremely verbally abusive to me whenever we talk, screaming at me and calling me names. What are you doing a situation like this? Fire the client?

If you have the authority to do so, yes. If I could fire one of my clients that is like this, I would. He doesn’t even have a good injury. Needs me to hold his hand through everything, is racist and misogynist. Screams at me regularly, and uses me as a therapist. It’s the only part of PI work that makes me miss the defense world.

Same. The bad clients are the worst part. Opposing counsel is generally way easier to work with.

Fire the client or have a partner talk to the client. Sometimes just having another lawyer talk to her and playing good cop bad cop can be helpful. I've had clients of other lawyers tell me I really know my stuff unlike their actual lawyer and I was literally relying on the information their lawyer was giving me.

Yeah they actually told me to fire her.

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Honestly don’t know how I leave these guys every morning.

Additional Posts in Personal Injury Lawyers

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??
